About Gattaca
Gattaca is a science fiction film that has been praised by scientists as the most scientifically realistic science fiction film of all time. The story takes place in a future where the advancement of science isn’t reflected by the existence of tacky gadgets or human-robot hybrid, but how genetics has advanced to the point of society widely using DNA-based discrimination, a concept that has actually happened in the real world several times. Children are no longer conceived through natural methods and are instead created in a lab, where embryos with the best variation of genes are kept and enhanced with gene editing, and undesired characteristics screened out. From the moment Vincent was born, he was already branded as a lower class citizen because of his natural conception, health defects and lack of genetic enhancements. However, Vincent is determined to achieve his dream of becoming an astronaut, a career restricted to superior citizens.
